as told in the last journal, this account is still on hiatus stock-wise.
But I'm in the process of catching up with my message center (summer cleaning instead of spring cleaning) and started some fav-and-running....and found out that some artists obviously didn't get the concept of Non-Commercial Use!!
So call me pissed-off.....
Free Stock is for NON-Commercial Use only!!
As stated in my General TOU
(link in the topmenu and in the description of each free stock) my free stock is only for non-commercial use. Let me grab that portion out of the TOU
Free stock is for non-commercial use only, except contests (run by individuals or groups) held on Deviant Art. Please do NOT use my stock in any corporate contests run either in conjunction with DeviantART or separately by any outside companies/magazines. This is non-negotiable!!
This also means you cannot use my free stock for commercial purposes such as Book Illustrations, Websites, CD Covers etc.
If you can't find a similiar stock piece in my exclusive stock and if you ask incredibly nice, I MAY make an exception to that rule. However, commercial use will only be granted on a person to person, case to case basis. Send me a note with the details and we'll work something out.
Furthermore my TOU states dA prints are not allowed with free stock except you have gotten my permisssion for this before you turned your work into any print offer. Now, guess what I spotted while playing catch-up and fav-and-run??? Exactly!!
First, several users turned their work into prints and therefore I filed several Violation reports!! All of them, never asked for permission and believe me, I know as I kept the permission correspondence in a separate folder.
Second, another dozens of users turned their artworks into Premium Content. This goes against the non-commercial use, too. None of you can guarantee what the buyer will do with the artwork, Therefore you can not offer your artwork, done with my free stock, as Premium Content. The buyer may be violating my copyright without knowing!!!
No Premium Content allowed
The General TOU got updated once again as of today, stating that turning your artwork into Premium Content is not allowed either. There's one exception to that: Traditional Artists who just used my stock as reference for their works only.
Every image I come across from today on will be reported if you turned it into Premium Content without having my written permission! You won't get a warning before!! The TOU is there for a reason - read it!!!
Give credit where credit is due!!
As it was brought to my attention, there are some artists (some also are stock providers), who obviouly didn't get the concept of crediting either, at least not with other stock provider's stock!! This is totally un-acceptable, guys. As artist (especially as stock provider yourself) you should have a conscience reg credits and give credit correctly or don't use the stock at all.
Just linking to a folder in your favourites where you have collected the stock you used in all your images is a no-go!!!
Those of you who did this (with my stock) and think I might not find out, consider yourself warned as I'll report you the moment I come across such a deviation.
The galleries have been re-sorted and most have subfolders now (as per latests poll results, see also the journal linked above). However, categories may be tweaked as we go.... In the topmenu is a link to a Gallery Glossary, showing/explaining the new categories. Comments, ideas, etc? Let me know....
